Find out about the Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade (TVLB), the voluntary shore-based coastal search and rescue service. One of only three remaining active Volunteer Life Brigades in the UK, TVLB is the oldest of these organisations. The Watch House Museum contains a unique collection of artefacts that recreate the dramatic history of the TVLB and involvement in heroic coastal rescues from formation in 1864 to the present day.
